Broughton's Approach to Enterprise in Education

The Scottish Executive’s Determined to Succeed (DtS) strategy wants to encourage enterprising values – “a can do, will do” attitude – in our school children. DtS wants all pupils in all schools to enjoy an enterprising ethos that encourages a sense of responsibility, recognizes strengths and achievements and contributes to their individual development.

Broughton High School has always had a strong commitment to the ideas and values of DtS and has taken part in some fantastic events and initiatives in the past and we would now like to build on this strong foundation in order to create a more cohesive, whole school approach.

The vision is for our programme of Enterprise in Education to give pupils the wide range of experiences needed to increase their self confidence, to motivate and provide them with an understanding of the world of work and the opportunities open to them. The results should be a more positive attitude towards school, improved attendance, and increased levels of qualifications – as well as a determination to succeed in work and life.
