Course OutlinesS1 - What is History - an introductory unit which covers types of evidence and handling evidence.
- Early Civilisation - a depth study of life in Ancient times
- Classes study Roman Britain or Ancient Egypt & the unit includes an individual study
- Scotland 's Story - the development of Scotland from the unification of the Kingdom to the Wars of Independence. The unit also includes a study of life in Scotland in the Middle Ages, including feudalism, castles and the Church.
S2 - Edinburgh - the development of Edinburgh from its origins to the building of the New Town and including a depth study on Burke and Hare.
- Slavery - the trade in slaves from Africa to British colonies, life on a plantation, emancipation and its effects
- The Home Front in Britain during World War II A study of life in Britain during the war, including rationing, evacuation ,the blackout, government propaganda etc. Pupils cany out an investigation on the Home Front using primary sources and are encouraged to interview someone who lived at that time.
