Introduction

Broughton High School aims to provide a  broad and balanced education appropriate to the needs and abilites of each student allowing them to develop their full potential.  Through effective learning and teaching we intend to enable every student to meet personal and educational targets.

We consider the process of education to be a crucial and important part of our work where the creation of a positive learning environment where everyone is valued. 

School Mission Statement

We aim to develop a 'success culture' at Broughton High School which makes it; 'A place of excellence and an excellent place to be.

School Aims

Our School aims are as follows:

  1. Curriculum - To ensure a broad and balanced curriculum that provides students with the best possible learning opportunities, whilst encouraging them to take responsibility for their education

  2. Attainment - To ensure that all learners are able to realise their potential through the promotion and recognition of achievement and excellence.

  3. Teaching and Learning - To provide high quality teaching and learning experiences that challenge learners and enable them to enjoy their education and develop positive attitudes towards learning.

  4. Support for Learners - To provide effective support systems for all learners which promote personal and social development and underpin academic achievement.

  5. Ethos - To provide a welcoming. safe and caring environment in which learning and development have the highest priority and in which all staff and students are supported good behaviour, self discipline and respect for others are promoted.

  6. Management - To improve the quality of learning and teaching through effective leadership, organisation and management of the school's staff and resources.

  7. Health Promotion - To ensure good health in all young people through strategies which promote physical and mental wellbeing and self-esteem.

  8. Professional Development - To improve the quality of educational experiences for learners through a programme of continuing professional develópment for all staff.

  9. Partnership - To build and maintain effective partnerships between the school and its parental body, external support agencies and its wider community.

  10. Lifelong Learning - To foster in learners a desire for knowledge and understanding, whilst equipping them with skills and attitudes for adult and working life as a foundation for lifelong learning.

  11. Citizenship - To prepare young people for responsible citizenship by developing values, beliefs and attitudes compatible with living in a modern, democratic and multicultural society.

  12. Social Inclusion - To ensure that every young person enjoys equality of access to educational opportunities, regardless of social or economic background. 

Values

 

Our aims are underpinned and sustained by our values. We believe that values permeate all educational activity and when we educate we communicate our values. Shared values can:

  • Provide a sense of identity within a school.

  • Convey a clear message and image.

  • Support and encourage behaviour which we find acceptable and good.

  • Help us to make effective and consistent decisions.
